What it is:
This herb is the whole plant of Polystictus versicolor(family Polyporaceae) produced mainly in middle and lower reaches of the Yang-tze River.

Property:
Slightly sweet in flavour and cold in property.

Effects:
Clearing away heat anddetoxicating.

Used for:
1. Leukemia, lymphoma, cancers of the stomach, breast, cervix, liver and lung,and dermatofi-broma. Polysaccharide,an extract from the herb, is prepared into tablet and injection, and used together with chemo-therapy,radiotherapy or other anticancer herbs to raise the curative effect. It obviously inhibits tumour cell in experimental animals.It also antagonizes immunosuppression incombination with other chemothera-peutic agents.

2.Chronic hepatitis B,hepatocirrhosis, nephritis, rheu-matoid arthritis.

Dosage and administration: tabletand syrup for oral administration;injectio for intra-muscular and in-travenous injection; 10-30g of the plant,decocted for 24 hours for an oral dose, once a day.
