What is it:
This herb is thefruit of Brucea javanica (family Simaroubaceae)distributed mainly in Guangdong, Guangxiand Fujian province,also in Taiwan. It is collected in autumn when the fruit is ripe, re-moved off twig, leafand dirt, washed clean and dried in sunlight. The kernelis got for use.

Property:
Bitter in fla-vour, cold in property, poisonous.

Effects:
Clearingaway heat and dampness,killing parasiteand detoxicating.

Used for:
1. Carcinomas ofthe uterine cervix,rectum, anus,esopha-gus, liver, breast, lung, skin, colon, cardia and thyroid.
(1) For damp stag-nation and excessivetoxin, it is used with flavescent sophora root,patriniaand phellodendron bark.
(2) For car-cinomas of the digestive tract and skin, 10% injection of the fruit is used.It destroys and inhibits a part of tumour cell in ex-periment.

2. Dysentery, chronic diarrhea, malaria, wart, he-morrhoid, furunclosis,etc.

Dosage and admi-nistration: 5- 15 pieces, put into longan aril or capsules for an oraldose. A proportionalamount of the fruit is smashed for exter-naluse. Its ileum ampoule is used for injection or taking orally.

Precautions:
It may cause acute poisoning manifestedas inhibition of central nervous sys-tem, vomiting and diarrhea if a large dose is used.
