What it is:
This herb is the seed and leaf of cephalotaxi Fortunei (family Cephalotax-aceae), which is mainly produced in most provinces south of the Yangtze River. The seed is collected in autumn when it is ripe, while the leaf in May to August. They are dried in sunlight before beingused.

Property:
Sweet and astringent in flavour,neutral in property(seed); bitter and astringent in flavour,cold in property (leaf).

Effects: killingparasite and relievingdyspepsia (seed) ; inducing antitumour (leaf).

Used for:
1. Lymphosarcoma,lung carcinoma andeosinophilous lymp-hosarcoma; also cancers of the stomach, maxillary sinus, oesophagus and leiomyosarcoma of uterus. It has pharmacological effects of inhibitingthe growth of variouscancers and prolonginglife span.

2. Parasitosis and food stagnation:The seed is used.

Dosage and ad-ministration: 15-20g,decocted in water for an oral dose. Injectio of alkaloid extracted from the herbis mainly used for antitumour.

Precautions:
The herb inhibits hemato-poietic system.
