Amomum Fruit (Frutus Amomi)


 

What it is:
This herb is the ripe fruit of Amomum villosum Lour, or Amomum longiligulare Wu (family Zingibera-ceae). The former is mainly produced inYangchun and Xinyi counties in Guangdong Province, hence its name. The latter is chiefly grown in Hainan and Zhanjiang Prefecture of Guang-dong Provincea and hence the name Hainan Amomum. The drug is harvested in summer or autumn, dried in sunlight, and used unprepared.

Property
Flavour and channel tropism: pungent in flavour, warm in property, acing on the spleen and stomach channels.

Resolving dampness to improve appetite, warming the spleen to stop diarrhea, and regulating the activities of qi to prevent abortion
