Common Syndromes and Treatments in TCM
This ailment, according to TCM,
has different syndromes. The treatment for these syndromes using herbal
medicine and acupuncture is shown below.

Therapeutic
principle: By using acupuncture you can promote the circulation
of the qi and blood, release pain, relax tendons, reduce wind and
cold.
Prescription/Formula: Jianyu (LI 15), Jianzhen (SI 9), Binao
(LI 14) and Tiaokou (S 38).
Supplementary points:
1. Pain in the medial (towards the chest) aspect of the shoulder:
chize (L5), Taiyuan (L9), and Yinlingquan (Sp9)
2. Pain in the lateral (away from the chest) aspect of the
shoulder and over scapula: Houxi (SI 3), Tianzong (SI 11), and Yanglingquan
(G 34)
3. Pain in the anterior (front) aspect of the shoulder: Hegu
(LI 4), Quchi (LI 11), and Zusanli (S 36)
Method: Use filiform needles with reducing method once daily,
and retain the needles for 25 minutes.

can relieve pain as it improves the circulation of qi and blood.
Results won't be visable right away, however it takes less time
for Qigong to heal pain than other ailments.

(b) Medicated diet
1) Take more nutritious food. Avoid cold and uncooked food.
2) Take the pellets which stimulate the circulation of the blood
and cause the muscles and joints to relax (Shujin Huoxue Dan). 3-5
pellets each time, twice a day. (Take them only when the ailment
recurs).
(c) Life style
1) Don't live in such damp place as basement.
2) Always keep the shoulder warm.
3) Do some appropriate exercises in the shoulder
